Still as a pole

Yesterday my class and I did a strand test and I got a overall score of 4P, which is the same result as my last strand. My bad subject was the tree diagrams. I got very confused. I have not accelerated but I have shown consolidation. I think I need more work to help me get a higher result.

This morning my class and I were doing a prototec to see which level we are at. I am at stage 7 and I got 90% in my test. It was difficult because it was timed. Many of the questions were very hard. I have consolidated in my multiplication, division and square roots and factors. I got 36 out of 40 which is quite an improvement. By the end of the year I would like to be at stage 8 and I would like to get 90%.

Chemical change

In the morning my class were making pancakes to prove that there is a chemical change. First we had to wash our hands so no germs could get on the ingredients. Once everyone arrived we were told how to make it. Many people had their own jobs for making the pancakes. Unfortunately me and some of my friends were not available to help.

In the beginning of the procedure they added ingredients to put in the oven. After mixing the ingredients, the heat from the oven caused it to bubble which released gas. As it was in the oven it started to get foamy. After it was done it was finally edible, a new substance.

Concentric circles

Walht: use a compass
Today my class and I were learning how to draw a concentric circles. We also learnt what radius, radii and circumference. I found the measuring very difficult but everything else very simple. I really like learning this today I wish I could do it again but much more difficult. I would really like to learn something more difficult but similar.

Making a arc

Walht: draw a perpendicular
I Can:
  1. Hold a compass
  2. draw an arc with a compass
  3. draw a straight line to join points
  4. indicate the angle
Today my class and I were learning how to draw an arc with a compass. Many of us did not know how to but some of us knew. It was very easy drawing a arc but the handling of a compass was unstable. I really enjoyed making a arc.

Maths: In maths I did accelerate from T1 to Term 2 but, unfortunately I did not accelerate in T3. I am really disappointed with myself. I am still at the same result as last term. My questions were much more harder than most children because my level was 4 or 5. By the end of the year I would like to achieve a 5A or a 5P.
I should listen more in math lessons and consolidate the new strategies in my head. I am glad that I got a 4A and 4P.

Reading: In reading T1 I unfortunately got a 3P but over the months I finally got a 4A in T3. I got this result because I listened in reading sessions. I completed most of the activities. I would like to learn about irony next. By the end of the year I would like to get a 5P.

Writing: I have sustained my result in . T2 but in T3 I dropped 2 levels lower. I have not been so wise with my words in writing. I have accomplished many steps in writing. Next term I would need to work on my vocabulary and write a little bit more.  By the end of the year I would like to get a 4A or a 5.

I  think I am not good at writing but my reading and maths is okay.

Matific games

Today my class and I were working on  a new challenge on matific to be able to win $50,000 for the school. The challenge started today and many of us completed the score to be able to win more monsters. I found the games very difficult.

Puzzles

WALHT: get familiar with words associated with integers
Screenshot 2017-08-11 at 09.23.12.png

This morning my class and I were working on a word puzzle that took a lot of concentration. I really found this really difficult. I learnt a lot such as more interesting words which help in the future. They were Inequalities and absolute. I wish I could do it again but much more harder. I am working a word search puzzle now.

This morning me and my maths group were working on Rounding off decimals in the thousands. I found this quite difficult because explaining to my group was very difficult, but overall I really enjoyed learning how to round off decimals.

Maths T2W9

Walht: Identify a rhombus
Screenshot 2017-06-28 at 09.34.48.png

Vocabulary: Diagonal, parallel, right angle, 900, bisect, polygon, specialised, degrees. Parallelogram, opposite, arrows,

This morning my class and I were learning how to identify a rhombus. We were using a matariki seven stars sheet to indicate the rhombus. There are arrows that represent the parallel lines. There are also 2 diagonals the must always bisect by making a 900 angle if it is measured accurately. I found this lesson quite easy.  I learnt that a rhombus has:
  • Specialised 4 sided shape
  • 2 opposite parallel lines
  • Diagonals bisect each other
